Cody Rhodes and Alexa Bliss Qualify for Elimination Chamber – More WWE Superstars secured spots in the upcoming Elimination Chamber event in Chicago as qualifying matches continued on 2/13 WWE SmackDown. Cody Rhodes and Alexa Bliss both advanced following hard-fought victories.
Rhodes earned his place in the men’s Chamber match scheduled for February 28 at Elimination Chamber after a chaotic finish involving several competitors. During the closing moments, Drew McIntyre interfered and attacked Jacob Fatu with a Claymore kick before powerbombing him through a table. McIntyre then struck Rhodes and placed Sami Zayn on top for a near fall. Rhodes managed to kick out, which led to McIntyre returning to the ring and continuing his assault.
Zayn regained momentum and attempted the Helluva Kick, but Rhodes avoided it at the last moment, causing Zayn to hit McIntyre instead. The opening allowed Rhodes to hit Cross Rhodes and secure the win.
Earlier in the show, Bliss qualified for the women’s Chamber match by defeating Zelina Vega and Giulia in a triple threat bout. Vega had thrown Giulia out of the ring and went for a running dive, but Bliss recovered quickly and delivered Sister Abigail to score the victory.
More qualifying matches are set for the coming week. On WWE RAW, Asuka will face Natalya and Bayley, while Dominik Mysterio meets Gunther and Je’Von Evans.
Next week’s WWE SmackDown will feature Carmelo Hayes facing former ally Trick Williams and Damian Priest in another qualifier. On the women’s side, Nia Jax will compete against Charlotte Flair and Kiana James for a place inside the Chamber.
The field for both matches continues to take shape as WWE builds toward the premium live event in Chicago later this month.
