Brock Lesnar vs LA Knight Listed Internally for WrestleMania 42 – Internal WWE creative notes from late January 2026 reportedly listed Brock Lesnar vs. LA Knight for WrestleMania 42. The update comes after mixed signals about Lesnar’s direction following his interaction with Oba Femi at the Royal Rumble.
The face-off between Lesnar and Femi drew a strong crowd reaction, leading to speculation that it could lead to a match. However, reporting from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that the internal listing at the time pointed to Lesnar facing Knight instead.
Lesnar is expected to return on the February 23 episode of Monday Night RAW in Atlanta, where his WrestleMania direction may become clearer. During the Royal Rumble match, Knight played a role in eliminating Lesnar alongside Cody Rhodes, which could serve as the storyline basis for a singles match.
Meltzer explained the situation and noted that the direction was not final.
“The Brock Lesnar direction for Raw is likely to be teased at the 2/23 Raw in Atlanta when he returns. There was a tease at the Royal Rumble of Oba Femi and after the Rumble we were only told that it was not a sure thing yet. We do know that in the lineup in late January for the show, that Lesnar was listed as facing LA Knight. But in the Rumble, nothing memorable was done in that direction while the Lesnar-Femi face-off was set up to get a big reaction and actually got the biggest reaction of the show except for Brie Bella.”
Femi’s performance, entering at number one and lasting 39 minutes, added to the conversation about a potential program. Meltzer later said on Wrestling Observer Radio that a Lesnar vs. Femi match is still uncertain.
“That’s not 100 percent by the way…it could happen. I’m not saying it’s not happening. I’m just saying that I was told this one’s not 100 per cent, and that was the Lesnar and Oba Femi match.”
As noted, Femi recently said his interaction with Lesnar at the Royal Rumble was designed to test the crowd’s appetite for a full-scale rivalry. The strong live reaction reportedly confirmed that a program between the two is planned for the future, even if it doesn’t happen at WrestleMania 42.
