“I was excited, man,” Williams said. “I knew I worked very hard, and of course, I know it’s very competitive on Raw’s roster and SmackDown’s roster, but I felt like I fit like a glove. I just knew I was ready for the moment, and I wanted the world to see me. I was excited, man. I couldn’t wait, and now we’re here.”
Williams then revealed how he actually found out about the call-up, explaining that the news arrived in a surprisingly casual way. Rather than a face-to-face meeting or phone call, the former NXT Champion received a brief message that immediately changed his career trajectory.
“You get a text message from a random number, ‘Congratulations, you are needed for Creative.’ I was like, ‘Man, I hope it’s real.’ You get a text message, and then you get notified through the app that ‘hey, this is how we’re going to get you to the destination’, and then you’re off to the races.”
The revelation highlights the fast-paced and business-like nature of WWE’s internal operations, even for life-changing moments such as a main roster promotion. For Williams, the brief text message was enough to confirm that his work in NXT had paid off and that WWE officials saw him as ready for the next level.
