Mike Santana Open to WWE Royal Rumble Appearance – TNA World Champion Mike Santana has addressed the growing speculation surrounding a potential appearance in the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble, speaking candidly about the possibility during a recent interview on Unseen with Joey Karni. With WWE and TNA currently operating under a working relationship, Santana did not rule out the idea of stepping into the 30-man match should the opportunity arise.
During the interview, Santana made it clear that he remains open to any opportunity that comes his way, especially one on a stage as large as the Royal Rumble.
“I mean, I said this before, if that phone rings I pick it up,” Santana said. “I turn down no opportunities, and I’m gonna go there repping TNA as hard as I could, you know what I mean, and it would definitely be something that is special, and I would make the absolute most of it, and yeah, it would definitely be cool.”
Santana went on to discuss the current state of professional wrestling and how partnerships between promotions have brought back an element of surprise that he grew up watching as a fan.
“The beauty of pro wrestling today especially with our partnership that we have is the unpredictability right you don’t know who’s gonna show up where and to means that was the best times when I was a kid right you didn’t know everybody showed up everywhere. You didn’t know what was gonna happen and the fact that I get to live that today is pretty awesome, but yeah man if that phone rings it’s gonna get picked up and as far as who’s getting thrown over whoever’s in my way, I could care less like everyone and everybody will get it.”
In addition to Royal Rumble talk, Santana also reflected on AJ Styles’ recent return to TNA and their on-screen interaction involving the TNA World Championship. Santana noted that Styles’ attention to the title was not lost on him.
“He looked right at it (the title),” Santana said. “I’m the guy. I said it before AJ has always been someone that I’ve admired. I’ve respected his journey has been second to none and yeah that to me is like the ultimate like the past versus the present you know and just definitely someone that I would love to mix it up with and learn from because he’s another one that has a wealth of knowledge.”
Santana also revealed that he shared a brief private exchange with Styles before cameras started rolling, an interaction that left a strong impression.
“It’s pretty cool to you know when AJ and I had that little interaction on Thursday before the cameras went on, you know he straight up was like yo like we’re here. There’s no here there’s no here like we’re right here and to hear AJ Styles. Say that was pretty awesome.”
With Santana continuing to represent TNA at the highest level and the door seemingly open for cross-promotional moments, the possibility of him appearing in the Royal Rumble remains an intriguing scenario.
