Leon Slater Talks TNA AMC Debut Momentum – With TNA iMPACT set to make its primetime debut on AMC on Thursday, January 15, anticipation within the company continues to build. The upcoming episode is being viewed internally as a major turning point, and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater recently shared insight into how meaningful the moment feels to the roster.
In a new interview with PWInsider, Slater was asked to describe the atmosphere backstage as TNA prepares for its first AMC broadcast. Johnson referred to the show as the most important TNA television episode since the company left Spike TV in 2014, framing the debut as a defining opportunity for the promotion.
“Everyone is very excited, man. I feel like TNA has almost been this hidden gem over the past few years of pro wrestling,” Slater said.
Slater reflected on how the company has quietly rebuilt its identity following the COVID era, crediting a strong generation of breakout performers for helping elevate TNA’s profile. He specifically pointed to talents such as Speedball Mike Bailey, Josh Alexander, and Jordynne Grace as examples of wrestlers who helped carry the promotion forward during a challenging period.
“The transition back to TNA over the past two years has been huge for us,” Slater said. “I don’t feel like it’s something we ‘deserve’—I feel like it’s something we’ve earned. That’s not just the in-ring talent. That goes for management, creative, the office—everyone.”
Slater emphasized that the AMC debut represents more than a network change. In his view, it reflects years of effort across every level of the company, from wrestlers to behind-the-scenes staff. He described the process as building something carefully out of the spotlight before finally having the chance to present it to a wider audience.
“It almost feels like a science project you’ve been working on in the basement every day, getting better and better, and now you finally get to show it to the world,” Slater said.
As TNA prepares to reintroduce itself on national television, the AMC debut stands as a major moment in the company’s ongoing resurgence. For the locker room, the broadcast is seen as a chance to show what has been built over the past several years and to redefine how the promotion is viewed moving forward.
