Eric Bischoff Weighs In on TNA AMC Debut Ratings

Eric Bischoff Weighs In on TNA AMC Debut Ratings – With TNA Wrestling preparing to air its first episode of iMPACT on AMC, discussion around the show’s potential viewership has increased within the wrestling industry. One of the latest voices to comment on the situation was Eric Bischoff, who shared his thoughts on what expectations should realistically look like for the debut broadcast.

Bischoff explained that predicting an opening-night number is difficult due to the limited visibility of AMC’s promotional efforts so far. He pointed out that there has not been a noticeable marketing push leading into the premiere, which makes it harder to project a strong initial audience. When comparing TNA’s situation to other wrestling programming on cable television, Bischoff cautioned against setting overly high expectations.

Using AEW’s current viewership as a reference point, Bischoff suggested that TNA’s debut is likely to draw a significantly smaller audience. He estimated that the first episode of iMPACT on AMC could land in the range of 350,000 to 400,000 viewers. According to Bischoff, that number would still be reasonable given the circumstances and the lack of aggressive promotion leading into the show.

Beyond the ratings estimate itself, Bischoff focused heavily on AMC’s level of commitment to the product. He contrasted the network’s quiet rollout with the extensive cross-platform promotion AEW receives from Warner Bros. Discovery. In his view, a strong marketing presence is often a clear indicator of how invested a network is in making a wrestling property succeed over the long term.

Bischoff questioned whether AMC is fully committed to TNA or simply using the debut as a trial run to evaluate performance. He noted that the absence of heavy advertising can sometimes signal hesitation rather than confidence, raising questions about how much support TNA may receive if the numbers fall short of expectations.

Despite those concerns, TNA does have a potential advantage heading into the premiere. The announced appearance of AJ Styles has created additional interest, particularly among long-time fans. There is curiosity surrounding whether Styles will only make an on-screen appearance or if he could return to the ring for the first time in more than ten years. That uncertainty alone could help drive tune-in for the debut episode.
