GUNTHER Confirms Double Duty at Royal Rumble

GUNTHER Confirms Double Duty at Royal Rumble – GUNTHER has officially confirmed that he will be pulling double duty at the Royal Rumble this weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In addition to defending the World Heavyweight Championship against AJ Styles, “The Ring General” will also enter the 30-man Royal Rumble match later the same night. The clarification puts an end to recent confusion surrounding his status in the match.

GUNTHER initially declared for the Royal Rumble during the January 19 episode of RAW, but that announcement came before his title match with Styles was made official. Conflicting statements followed, including CM Punk saying during the kickoff show that GUNTHER would not be in the Rumble. Michael Cole later contradicted that claim, stating that GUNTHER was indeed confirmed. GUNTHER has now personally settled the matter.

In a new interview with Gulf News, GUNTHER spoke about his excitement in returning to Saudi Arabia, a location he associates with one of the most important matches of his career. He pointed to his King of the Ring final against Randy Orton as a defining moment.

“My favorite match I’ve had in Saudi is definitely the King in the Ring final with Randy (Orton). It was a very big match for my career. Now we’re back here and it’s another great chance for myself to retire another legend and I’m also participating in the Royal Rumble, so I look forward to it.”

AJ Styles has agreed to put his legendary career on the line for a chance at GUNTHER’s World Heavyweight Championship. If GUNTHER succeeds in retiring Styles, he will have little time to recover before entering the Royal Rumble match and attempting to outlast 29 other competitors.

GUNTHER holds the record for the longest time spent in a traditional Royal Rumble match in WWE history, making his participation notable given the physical demands of wrestling twice in one night.

“As someone who has spent the longest time in the Royal Rumble in WWE history, I’m looking forward to the challenge of fighting twice in one night. It’s another very special challenge for myself and I feel like I thrive in these situations so I’m very excited.”

The men’s Royal Rumble match is set to feature a deep and accomplished field. Advertised participants include Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Brock Lesnar, setting the stage for a highly competitive and physically demanding contest as GUNTHER looks to leave Riyadh with his title intact and potentially a WrestleMania opportunity in hand.
