Tommaso Ciampa Makes AEW Debut, Sets TNT Title Match – Tommaso Ciampa has officially arrived in All Elite Wrestling, and he did not waste any time stepping into the title picture.

Weeks after his WWE contract expired, Ciampa made his AEW debut on the January 28 episode of Dynamite. The appearance came immediately after Mark Briscoe successfully defended the TNT Championship against the previously undefeated El Clon. Following the match, Briscoe grabbed a microphone and issued an open challenge for this Saturday’s episode of Collision.

Ciampa answered the challenge.

The former NXT Champion came to the ring already dressed in his gear. He did not say a word. Instead, Ciampa stood face-to-face with Briscoe, kissed him on the cheek, and calmly exited the ring. The visual alone was enough to make the moment feel significant. Shortly after, the TNT Championship match was made official.

Nearly an hour after Ciampa’s debut aired, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that Ciampa is officially signed, announcing that he is now #AllElite.

Ciampa confirmed his WWE departure last Wednesday after his contract expired and he chose not to re-sign. At the time, he stated that he was excited about what was next and had begun accepting bookings. In the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that there has been talk of Ciampa potentially wrestling for NJPW, though his immediate focus is now clearly on AEW.

The 40-year-old veteran spent two separate runs in WWE, with his most recent stint lasting a decade. During that time, he became one of the most decorated performers in NXT history. Ciampa is a two-time NXT Champion and also held the NXT Tag Team Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship twice alongside Johnny Gargano.

His rapid move into a TNT Championship match signals that AEW sees Ciampa as a major player from day one. The silent debut, followed by an immediate title opportunity, positions him as a serious threat within the company’s mid-card and beyond.

Ciampa will challenge Mark Briscoe for the TNT Championship this Saturday on Collision, marking his first AEW match just days after officially signing with the promotion.
