Jim Ross Sees AEW as Logical Next Step for Tommaso Ciampa – Reports suggesting Tommaso Ciampa may be leaving WWE once his contract expires have sparked discussion about where “The Blackheart” could land next. As speculation continues, Jim Ross has shared his thoughts on Ciampa’s potential future and why All Elite Wrestling could be a strong fit.
Speaking about Ciampa, Ross made it clear that he holds the former NXT Champion in high regard as a performer. He described Ciampa as a reliable and proven talent, someone promotions can trust in high-level matches and long-term storytelling. From Ross’ perspective, AEW stands out as the most logical destination if Ciampa does move on from WWE.
“He’s a good hand,” Ross said. “I think that’s logical. I don’t know for sure. Where else? What are his other options? They’re there. He could also, he could get a deal in Japan. He worked their style well. But if I know AEW, as I do, he’s somebody you wouldn’t pass on. You know he’s a good worker, and he’s done, and he’s got a lot of name recognition, name identity. And in the business, I like his work.”
Ross acknowledged that Ciampa would have options outside of AEW, including the possibility of working in Japan. However, he emphasized that Ciampa’s wrestling style, reputation, and experience align closely with what AEW typically looks for when adding talent to its roster.
While Ross admitted he has no inside information regarding Ciampa’s contract status or negotiations, he said his opinion is based on instinct and years of experience in the industry. In his view, Ciampa’s ability to deliver consistently strong matches makes him an ideal fit for AEW’s in-ring focused approach.
“So I think it seems to me, Conrad and I got said I got nothing to base this on, other than my gut instincts that he will be on the AEW roster sooner than later, because he can have great matches with anybody,” Ross stated. “And I like his work. He’s solid. He didn’t worry about breaking an egg. He’s a tough kid. So I hope that we get him. I really do.”
Whether Ciampa ultimately joins AEW or chooses another path remains to be seen, but Ross’ comments underline the level of respect Ciampa has earned across the wrestling industry.
