The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Rollins has been vocal internally about wanting to wrestle on the biggest show of the year, but there is no final decision on whether he will be healthy enough to compete.
Dave Meltzer noted that WWE is taking a cautious approach. Rollins’ desire to work the event is well known, yet the company is waiting to see how his recovery progresses before locking in creative plans. At this stage, clearance is described as a possibility rather than a guarantee.
If he receives the green light, a high-profile match between Rollins and Bron Breakker is among the options being discussed. Meltzer wrote that “Rollins vs. Breakker, Reigns vs. Punk and Rhodes against someone else could be done. Or Rollins vs. Breakker. Rollins has talked about wanting to wrestle at Mania. We’ve been told this week that it is a possibility but it’s too early to determine if it can happen.”
Rollins’ 2025 has been one of dramatic highs and difficult setbacks. His Money in the Bank cash-in on CM Punk at SummerSlam reshaped the main-event landscape, but lingering injury issues have complicated his immediate future. Those concerns are now central to WWE’s decision-making as WrestleMania season approaches.
Breakker, meanwhile, continues to rise rapidly through the ranks. After pinning CM Punk at Survivor Series, he has become a centerpoint of WWE’s long-term plans. He is viewed as a leading contender to win the 2026 Royal Rumble and is heading into a World Title match against Punk on the January 5 edition of RAW.
Rollins remains determined to make WrestleMania 42, but his path depends entirely on how his body responds in the coming weeks, leaving his status one of the most watched developments of the early WrestleMania build.
