SmackDown Superstar Set for Major 2026 Breakout – There’s a new update on Jacob Fatu, who has been absent from WWE programming since October following a storyline injury on SmackDown.
Fatu was written off television on the October 17 episode, where he was found backstage with a bloody mouth and several teeth scattered on the floor. While the angle appeared brutal, it was reportedly designed to cover for a legitimate medical issue. As previously reported by Bodyslam.net, the segment was executed so Fatu could undergo a necessary dental procedure.
According to new information from Bodyslam, WWE remains extremely high on Fatu and has major plans for him once he returns. Sources indicate the company wants Fatu to have a “breakthrough year” in 2026, with a push that was originally set to begin before he was sidelined for surgery.
As for his timeline, Fatu is currently expected to return to WWE television in the early stages of 2026. That timing lines up perfectly with the road to the Royal Rumble, which takes place on January 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Given the schedule, a surprise Rumble appearance is very much in play.
Fatu’s absence has been felt on SmackDown, but WWE’s optimism about his future suggests that his return could be one of the early highlights of the new year.
