Cody Rhodes Vs Drew McIntyre Moved to Saturday Night’s Main Event Due to Jacob Fatu Injury – The Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre, originally planned for Survivor Series, will now take place earlier at Saturday Night’s Main Event. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the change was made after Jacob Fatu suffered an injury that took him out of action.
“Rhodes vs. McIntyre, originally scheduled for Survivor Series, was moved up here because Jacob Fatu, who was originally to face McIntyre on this show, is out of action,” the report stated.
Dave Meltzer also suggested that the decision reflected WWE’s limited roster depth, explaining that rather than finding a new babyface opponent for McIntyre to build toward Survivor Series, WWE opted to move the Rhodes–McIntyre feud ahead of schedule. “That also speaks of the depth issue, as when Fatu went down, instead of plugging another babyface in a feud with McIntyre to set up Survivor Series, they went right to Rhodes vs. McIntyre,” Meltzer added.
Saturday Night’s Main Event will be held on November 1, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The event currently includes Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre and CM Punk facing Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.
Although Fatu’s injury prompted the reshuffle, the Observer noted that he is not expected to be sidelined as long as first thought.
Meanwhile, Survivor Series: WarGames remains scheduled for November 29, 2025, in San Diego, California. Despite multiple injuries, plans for a Men’s WarGames match reportedly remain in place. “Since many have asked, as of press time, the men’s WarGames match was still a Punk & Reigns team against The Vision-led team,” Meltzer wrote. “Some thought with all the injuries that it would be changed to the Wyatts vs. MFTs since they are clearly doing a multi-person program there as well.”
