MJF Wins AEW World Championship at Worlds End

MJF Wins AEW World Championship at Worlds End – For the first time in two years and for the second time in his career, MJF is once again AEW World Champion.

MJF captured the AEW World Championship in the four-way main event of Saturday’s Worlds End pay-per-view from Chicago, almost exactly two years after losing the title to Samoa Joe at the inaugural Worlds End event. Fittingly, Joe entered this year’s show as the reigning champion, making the victory a symbolic full-circle moment for MJF.

The decisive sequence unfolded after Hangman Page connected with two Buckshot Lariats on Joe. As Page went for a third, MJF slid into the ring and delivered a low blow to Page, stopping the momentum. MJF then hit Joe with the Heat Seeker and secured the pinfall to win the match and the championship.

The bout featured multiple layers of interference involving Samoa Joe’s Opps teammates. Hook, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs all became involved at ringside. Shibata and Hobbs were neutralized by Swerve Strickland, while Hook narrowly avoided being struck by Page. Strickland appeared poised to impact the finish, but his involvement was cut short when MJF shoved him off the top rope as he attempted a Swerve Stomp on Joe, removing him from the final moments.

With the win, MJF ends Joe’s second AEW World Championship reign, which began at Full Gear in November following Joe’s victory over Page. That reign now comes to a close less than two months later.

MJF’s first AEW World Championship run remains historic, lasting a record-setting 406 days from Full Gear 2022 through Worlds End in December 2023. After being absent from AEW television, MJF made his surprise return earlier this month, inserting himself into what was originally a three-way title program involving Joe, Page, and Strickland. He exercised his Casino Gauntlet contract from All In Texas, officially adding himself to the Worlds End main event.

With the championship now back around his waist, MJF already has his first defense lined up. He is scheduled to put the AEW World Championship on the line against Bandido at the Maximum Carnage episode of AEW Dynamite in January, setting the stage for the next chapter of his second reign.
