Austin Theory Explains Why He Returned Under a Mask on WWE RAW – At WWE Survivor Series last month, a masked man entered the Men’s WarGames match and hit CM Punk with a curb stomp, allowing Bron Breakker to pin the champion and secure a major win for The Vision.
In the weeks that followed, the masked figure repeatedly interfered on RAW to assist The Vision. Last week, the mystery ended when the attacker revealed himself as former United States Champion Austin Theory. On the December 23 episode of RAW, Theory finally explained why he returned under a mask.
In the opening backstage segment, Paul Heyman confronted Theory and demanded to know what he was thinking. Theory responded:
“I wanted you to know why I was wearing the mask. I wanted everybody to feel my actions before they saw my face. And I’ve made some bad decisions. I got comfortable, I got injured, but then I saw The Vision.”
Theory continued:
“You didn’t wait for anything. You took, and that’s me now. I take. And I know The Vision’s got a match tonight, and I’d love to take that opportunity and help out.”
Heyman reacted with interest but walked away without giving Theory an immediate answer.
Later in the show, Heyman informed The Vision that Austin Theory would team with Bronson Reed later that night in a tag match against Rey Mysterio and CM Punk, marking Theory’s first official in‑ring alignment with the group since revealing himself.
