Blake Monroe Blasts NXT Over Title Loss – Blake Monroe is not letting her accidental NXT Women’s North American Championship loss fade quietly, and her latest reaction made that clear. One day after losing the title to Thea Hail in what has since been confirmed as an unplanned finish, Monroe took to social media on December 17 with a pointed message aimed directly at WWE NXT.
Responding to NXT’s official header image on X, which showed Monroe seated on the mat as Hail celebrated with the championship, Monroe wrote,
“change your fck ass header @WWENXT”*
The image captured the moment immediately following the referee’s three-count, a finish that multiple reports have stated was never intended to happen. Monroe’s frustration appears tied not only to the loss itself, but also to WWE continuing to spotlight a moment that resulted from a mistake rather than a planned storyline beat.
As previously reported, the original plan for the December 16 episode of NXT was for Monroe to retain the championship. During the closing moments of the match, however, Hail came off the ropes and knocked the wind out of Monroe. When Hail went for the pin, Monroe attempted to raise her shoulder but was unable to do so in time. With WWE referees instructed to treat all pinfalls as legitimate, the official counted to three, resulting in an unexpected title change.
Backstage sources have suggested that Hail, still relatively early in her career, may not have realized she needed to allow Monroe a brief moment to recover before attempting the cover. The confusion was evident immediately after the bell, as Monroe’s entrance music initially played before being abruptly cut off and replaced with Hail’s theme once officials realized what had happened.
WWE later leaned into the situation by acknowledging Monroe’s late shoulder movement as part of the narrative. Still, the damage had already been done. The accidental title change reportedly caused significant disruption backstage, forcing WWE to adjust creative plans and rewrite upcoming segments that had already been taped with Monroe positioned as champion.
Monroe had previously hinted at her anger with a cryptic post referencing being “screwed,” but her latest message leaves little doubt about how she feels, particularly with WWE continuing to promote the unintended finish. With NXT preparing to tape additional episodes soon, it remains unclear whether WWE will move quickly to reverse the title change or extend the situation into a longer storyline. For now, Thea Hail remains champion, but Monroe’s reaction suggests the issue is far from settled.
