Rumors on Brock Lesnar Retiring at SummerSlam 2026 – WWE is reportedly mapping out retirement tours for several major names, with Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, and potentially Chris Jericho all discussed internally as part of long-term plans for 2026.
Ahead of his own retirement match, John Cena appeared on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast, where he hinted that Brock Lesnar could be nearing the end of his in-ring career. Cena specifically mentioned Minnesota as a possible location, which immediately drew attention given WWE’s announcement that SummerSlam 2026 will take place in Minneapolis. Lesnar’s deep ties to the state, where he built his reputation as a dominant amateur wrestler before transitioning to professional wrestling and MMA, make the setting especially significant.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has been discussing working plans for multiple retirement runs in 2026. While nothing outside of AJ Styles is considered fully locked in, Lesnar’s name has been regularly mentioned, and Chris Jericho is also viewed as a possibility depending on contractual status.
“There is a story going around that Lesnar will retire at SummerSlam 2026. I can’t confirm that date but did at least a month [ago] hear that the working plans for 2026 would be the WWE retirement runs for Lesnar, Styles and potentially Jericho if he signs,” Meltzer wrote.
Meltzer added that Styles appears to be the most certain of the three, noting that The Phenomenal One has already made it clear that 2026 will be his final year in the ring, even if the exact timing remains undecided.
AJ Styles has publicly acknowledged that retirement is approaching, citing the physical toll of wrestling and a desire to step away while still healthy. His recent on-screen interactions with Gunther have also fueled speculation that WWE could be positioning Styles for a high-profile farewell program.
Chris Jericho’s situation is less clear. He remains under contract with AEW, but rumors persist that he could return to WWE once his deal expires toward the end of the year. If that happens, WWE officials reportedly see value in a final run tied to his legacy.
As for Lesnar, his last WWE appearance came at Survivor Series WarGames, and he is currently being advertised for the 2026 Royal Rumble. If plans hold, WWE could be setting the stage for one of the most notable retirement tours in company history, a story WrestlingAttitude.Com will continue to follow closely as details develop.
