JD McDonagh Announces Break to Recover From Injuries – JD McDonagh has revealed he is stepping away from the ring to deal with lingering physical issues.
In a post shared to his Instagram Stories, The Judgment Day member admitted he has been competing while not at full strength and now needs time to recover. “Been working thru some stuff for the last few months, but now is the time to pump the brakes and get put back together,” McDonagh wrote. “Won’t be long, BRB.”
The announcement caps off a turbulent year for the Irish star. Back in January, McDonagh suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung during a match against The War Raiders on RAW. The injury occurred after a moonsault to the outside went wrong, causing his body to crash against the announce table. He missed several months of action before returning in April.
Upon his comeback, McDonagh found success alongside Finn Bálor. The duo captured the World Tag Team Championship for the second time on the June 30 episode of RAW, defeating The New Day. Their reign lasted 112 days before ending on October 20, when AJ Styles and Dragon Lee claimed the titles.
McDonagh’s reference to “working thru some stuff for the last few months” suggests he has been managing pain or minor injuries throughout the latter half of his title run. The grind of defending the championships combined with his earlier setbacks appears to have caught up to him.
While McDonagh did not provide a specific timeline for his return, his assurance that it “won’t be long” offers optimism for fans of The Judgment Day. His absence will be felt, but the update indicates he plans to be back in action once he has fully recovered.
