High Praise Internally for Oba Femi – There is reportedly strong internal praise within WWE for NXT Champion Oba Femi following his recent appearances on the main roster. According to Bodyslam.net, WWE officials were described as being “unbelievably impressed” with Femi’s performances on SmackDown and at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with his presentation and presence standing out in high-profile situations.

Femi regained the NXT Championship on December 6 at NXT Deadline, where he defeated Ricky Saints to begin his second reign with the title. That victory immediately elevated his standing, as it earned him a Champion vs. Champion opportunity against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. The match was positioned on the same card as John Cena’s final wrestling match, highlighting the level of trust WWE placed in Femi on a major stage. While the bout ultimately ended in a no-contest due to interference from Drew McIntyre, Femi’s performance reportedly left a lasting impression backstage.

Following that match, WWE began airing vignette packages for Femi on both SmackDown and RAW. Those segments have been widely interpreted as signals that WWE is actively preparing him for a move to the main roster. According to the Bodyslam report, Femi is expected to be called up “very soon,” with officials already viewing him as a long-term cornerstone talent.

Sources speaking to Bodyslam indicated that WWE sees Femi’s upside as comparable to that of Bron Breakker, who has quickly established himself as a major force since his own call-up. The report stated, “If Bron’s current push and trajectory tells you anything, it’s that Oba Femi will be a special, special case and main event player for years to come.” That comparison places Femi firmly in the category of talents WWE expects to build around at the highest level.

Before signing with WWE in December 2021 through the Next In Line program, Femi was a standout track and field athlete at the University of Alabama. Since arriving in NXT, he has compiled an impressive resume, including a record-setting 273-day reign as NXT North American Champion. Now in his second run as NXT Champion, Femi’s momentum continues to grow as WWE appears to position him for the next phase of his career.
