Update on Trick Williams Nasty Head Injury During Match With Ricky Saints – The November 11 episode of WWE NXT ended with a brutal Last Man Standing main event between NXT Champion Ricky Saints and Trick Williams — but the match took a frightening turn midway through when Williams suffered a serious head injury.
During the bout, Williams attempted to spear Saints through the barricade at ringside. Saints managed to move out of the way, causing Williams to crash through the barricade. While the barricade appeared to be prepped for impact, the metal guardrail behind it was not, and Williams’ head struck a solid beam upon contact. The referee immediately checked on him as blood became visible near his forehead.
Bryan Alvarez later shared details of the incident, writing, “Trick busted his head wide open when he went through the barricade and accidentally hit his head on a metal beam. Ref asked if he was OK and Trick said yes, at which point the ref asked, ‘ARE YOU SURE?’”
Despite the impact, Williams chose to continue the match. The two battled back into the ring and around the arena, using kendo sticks and tables before the chaotic conclusion. Saints ultimately retained the NXT Championship after spearing Williams off the barricade and through the announce table. Saints barely beat the referee’s 10-count, standing tall as Williams tried to rise but collapsed back to his knees.
As the champion stood over his fallen opponent, NXT ended on a major cliffhanger. Former champion Oba Femi, who hadn’t appeared since losing the title to Saints at No Mercy in September, returned and stepped onto the entrance ramp. The show went off the air before Femi could enter the ring, teasing a new chapter in the NXT title picture.
There’s no official update yet on Williams’ condition, but the sequence clearly left the crowd shaken. WWE medical staff reportedly checked on him after the broadcast went off the air.
