The movie is scheduled to arrive in theatres on January 16, 2026, and the recent footage showcases Punk appearing as an LAPD officer who may also be a vampire, adding an unpredictable layer to his on–screen persona.
Previous announcements confirmed that Punk would have a meaningful presence in the film, but the new trailer now positions him as one of the primary villains. Online listings describe his role as the brutal right–hand man to a police sergeant, suggesting that his character will be physically intense, threatening, and heavily involved in the film’s central conflict. This aligns with the tone of the trailer, which places Punk in several tense scenes that highlight aggression, authority, and an underlying sinister motive.
The official plot centers on an LAPD officer who must reluctantly align with local street gangs when he uncovers a secret within a police task force that threatens the people living in the same housing projects where he was raised. The horrific reveal appears to be that the task force is made up of vampire cops, shifting the story into the horror genre while remaining grounded in corruption, power struggles, and survival. The film’s tagline, Defang the police, hints at both literal and symbolic themes.
Night Patrol is directed by Ryan Prows, who also co–wrote the script. The lead role is played by Jermaine Fowler, and the cast includes RJ Cyler, Freddie Gibbs, YG, Flying Lotus, Dermot Mulroney, Jon Oswald, and Nicki Micheaux.
