Backstage News on CM Punk and Bron Breakker After After RAW Scares – Concerns spread across the wrestling community on Tuesday following 1/5 episode of RAW that sparked speculation about the health of WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. Early reports claimed that a WWE talent had been placed in concussion protocol after the show, immediately leading to questions about who may have been injured.
Attention quickly focused on the main event featuring Punk against Bron Breakker. During the match, Punk attempted a tope through the ropes, with Breakker positioned to catch him. The timing appeared off, and Punk instead crashed face-first onto the black mats at ringside. The landing looked severe, with Punk’s head striking the floor on impact.
On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez stated that while he could not confirm the identity of the wrestler placed in protocol, he had been told someone was evaluated following the show. Given the nature of Punk’s fall, speculation grew that the champion was the individual involved. Alvarez noted that Punk went “straight down” and that his head bounced off the floor. Although Punk completed the match, observers pointed out that he appeared shaken afterward and did not look fully steady.
That speculation was later addressed by PWInsider, which reported that rumors of Punk being in concussion protocol were “entirely incorrect.” The report cited Punk’s busy schedule the following day as evidence. Punk was seen throughout New York City on Tuesday conducting media appearances, including an early morning spot on FOX New York’s Good Day New York.
Additional concerns from the match were also addressed. Alvarez confirmed that Bron Breakker, who also had a rough landing during the bout, was checked and cleared immediately after RAW went off the air. The discussion then shifted to the women’s division, where Lance Storm highlighted a Razor’s Edge spot involving Kairi Sane. Storm described the move as having a “high concussion percentage,” and Alvarez agreed that Sane landed awkwardly on the back of her head. Despite that, Sane continued the match without visible issues.
As of now, the identity of the wrestler placed in concussion protocol has not been confirmed. However, reports make clear that CM Punk is not injured and remains active as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
