CM Punk Weighs In on Who Should Face John Cena in His Final WWE Match

CM Punk Weighs In on Who Should Face John Cena in His Final WWE Match – One of the most talked-about questions in wrestling today is who will stand across the ring from John Cena in what is expected to be his final WWE match.

With Cena preparing to close out his in-ring career this December, fans and analysts alike continue to debate who deserves the honor of sharing that moment with him. CM Punk added his perspective during an appearance on the Up And Adams show while promoting WWE Survivor Series, offering thoughtful insight into Cena’s legacy and his prediction for who likely gets the spot.

Punk began by explaining how Cena reminds him of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, noting the longevity and influence Cena has brought to WWE across multiple eras. “Cena is, I think, our Wayne Gretzky, I’ve been saying. [He] is somebody who’s just kind of held it down for a very, very long time. And for him to wrap it up — watching him exit with such style and grace and dignity has been has been a real treat. We we don’t get to often say goodbye in real time to our sports heroes. So this is this is one time we can. Especially with how physical this is, how physical NFL is. Everything, every game, every match is fleeting. Could end like that. So you know, he’s leaving with his health.”

Punk then addressed the question everyone is asking: who should face Cena in his final match? He admitted that, ideally, he would have chosen himself for the moment. However, he shifted to who he believes is the strongest candidate among the current lineup. “Well, perfect probably would have been me. But you know, you can’t really see, the title’s over here somewhere… who’s the perfect opponent that’s actually in the field? I mean, right now I don’t know if it’s perfect, but it’s looking like GUNTHER. Because I’ve been in the ring with him and I know what he can do, and I don’t know who else in that tournament can beat him right now.”

Punk’s comments highlight both his respect for Cena’s career and his belief that Cena’s last match should be against someone capable of delivering a powerful, memorable performance. With December fast approaching, anticipation continues to grow as fans wait to see who will officially share that historic final moment with one of WWE’s most iconic figures.
