TNA President Carlos Silva Responds to Criticism of WWE Crossover – TNA President Carlos Silva has addressed the ongoing criticism from fans regarding the crossover storyline between TNA and WWE NXT, which will culminate at the upcoming “NXT vs. TNA Showdown” event on October 7. Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Silva pushed back against negative social media reaction, calling it part of the process in building interest and storylines.
“We’re still TNA, and we’ve always been TNA. Look, you can read on socials, there’s moaning, there’s this, of course, that’s all part of building the product and building the storylines,” Silva said. “I think WWE and NXT both understand that TNA is its own property, the same way they understand that AAA is their own property, and that NXT is their own property.”
Silva emphasized that while the partnership has created crossover moments, TNA remains a separate entity and is playing the “long game” in its overall planning. He suggested that this storyline is just one part of a larger strategy to strengthen TNA’s future direction.
The inter-promotional storyline has been one of the biggest talking points in wrestling throughout 2025. The partnership has already featured TNA stars competing on NXT and vice versa, with the most notable crossover being Trick Williams, the reigning TNA World Champion, who is under an NXT contract.
Tensions escalated on the September 23 episode of NXT, when a large group of TNA talent invaded the show and clashed with the NXT roster in a chaotic brawl to close the broadcast. That segment directly set the stage for the “Showdown” special, which will include multiple inter-promotional bouts, such as two 5-on-5 elimination matches and a high-stakes “title for title” contest between the tag team champions of each company.
While some fans have voiced concern about creative direction and how each promotion will be presented, Silva’s comments underline that both companies see the angle as a collaborative effort designed to elevate interest for all involved.
