AEW WrestleDream 2025 Adds Two Huge Title Matches – The fallout from AEW Dynamite’s sixth anniversary special has added two major championship bouts to the upcoming WrestleDream pay-per-view in St. Louis on Saturday, October 18.
During Wednesday’s show, AEW World Champion Hangman Page and Samoa Joe briefly found themselves on the same side, teaming with Powerhouse Hobbs to defeat The Death Riders. Page scored the victory by pinning Claudio Castagnoli with an assist from Joe. However, their alliance unraveled immediately afterward.
When Page handed Joe his Trios title belt, tensions flared, leading to a heated verbal exchange that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation before security stepped in. Later in the night, Page officially challenged Joe to a World Championship match at WrestleDream. Joe accepted, setting up a long-awaited first-time singles clash between the two.
This will be Page’s fifth defense of the AEW World Championship, while Joe looks to recapture the title he lost to Swerve Strickland at Revolution 2024. Joe’s last opportunity at the gold came in May when he fell short against Jon Moxley inside a steel cage.
The women’s division also gained a high-stakes bout for WrestleDream. After defeating Tay Melo on Dynamite, Toni Storm called out AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander. Statlander, fresh off a victory in the night’s mixed tornado tag main event alongside Darby Allin, accepted the challenge.
Statlander has held the Women’s World Championship since her four-way win at All Out last month, a match that also included Storm. The upcoming showdown will mark her next big test as champion and a chance for Storm to regain the gold she lost in September.
With both the AEW World Championship and Women’s World Championship now confirmed for the card, WrestleDream 2025 is shaping up to be one of the company’s most anticipated events of the year.
