Wardlow Reportedly Suffers Torn Pectoral Injury After Return – AEW’s Wardlow is facing another major setback after reportedly suffering an injury just as he made his long-awaited return to television.
According to Fightful Select, sources within AEW believe Wardlow may have suffered a torn pectoral muscle, an injury that usually requires surgery and can sideline a wrestler for six to nine months. While not yet officially confirmed, this injury would significantly delay his in-ring comeback. There is, however, a possibility that he could remain on television in a non-wrestling capacity, serving as an enforcer-type figure while he recovers.
The timing of the injury is particularly difficult for Wardlow. He had been out for more than a year following a shoulder injury that was further complicated by a car accident. Although he had been medically cleared for several months, AEW delayed his return so he could film the first two seasons of the “American Gladiators” reboot. That project has since wrapped, and Wardlow was slated for a renewed push upon rejoining the roster.
His return took place at AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view on August 24. In a surprise appearance, Wardlow attacked Prince Nana after the AEW Unified Championship match between Kazuchika Okada and Swerve Strickland, officially aligning himself with the Don Callis Family. Reports suggest that the injury may have happened during this angle, though that has not been confirmed.
The news has reportedly left AEW talent disappointed, with many expressing frustration on Wardlow’s behalf given how long he had waited to return. His momentum was building again after a year-plus absence, and the injury now pushes back his chance to regain a strong position in AEW’s lineup.
