WWE SummerSlam: Tryouts, Media Rounds, Stadium Setbacks, More – As WWE prepares for the historic first-ever two-night SummerSlam Premium Live Event at MetLife Stadium, the New York/New Jersey area has been buzzing with media appearances, community outreach, talent tryouts, and behind-the-scenes activity. With less than 48 hours to go until the biggest event of the summer kicks off, here’s a look at the most recent developments from SummerSlam Week:
– WWE held a special WWE: UNREAL watchalong fan engagement event earlier this week, featuring Chelsea Green, Dominik Mysterio, and Damian Priest sitting in with On Location members.
– Chelsea Green was also among the featured WWE talent at the SummerSlam Week public tryouts in New Jersey, where she joined Rhea Ripley and Sarah Schrieber in evaluating new prospects.
– While public WWE tryouts may seem like a newer concept, they’ve been part of SummerSlam and other major WWE weekends in the past. Previous tryout participants include stars such as Bianca Belair and Anthony Bowens. WWE has hosted similar sessions during past SummerSlam events in Las Vegas and at the Arnold Sports Festival.
– Independent standout VertVixen, who has appeared on AEW programming and built a strong presence on the indie scene, was among the prospects trying out this week.
– Behind the scenes, a two-hour weather-related delay affected WWE’s production team at MetLife Stadium on Thursday. Construction on the massive SummerSlam set was temporarily halted but resumed at 4:45 PM local time. Barring further weather issues, the stadium is expected to be ready in time for Saturday’s kickoff.
– Despite travel disruptions and airport delays across the region, WWE has indicated that there are no major concerns about talent or crew availability for the weekend.
– As part of WWE’s community outreach, Big E, R-Truth (Ron Killings), and others made an appearance at a local Boys & Girls Club to continue WWE’s long-standing support of youth engagement programs.
– On Friday morning, WWE talent ramped up media appearances to promote the two-night SummerSlam spectacular. Among those spotted doing interviews and press hits were Bron Breakker, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Raquel Rodriguez, Roxanne Perez, Aleister Black, Lyra Valkyria, Solo Sikoa, and R-Truth.
With the stadium show just around the corner, WWE continues to push forward on all fronts—media, recruitment, and fan interaction—making SummerSlam Week 2025 one of the busiest and most ambitious in recent company history.
