WWE Speed Reportedly On Hiatus, Future of Show Uncertain – WWE Speed appears to be quietly shelved, with no new episodes airing since July 9. WWE has yet to publicly comment on the show’s status, and no announcements were made about a new tournament following the last episode, which featured Sol Ruca successfully defending her WWE Speed Women’s Championship against Alba Fyre.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that he has inquired about the show’s future, but sources within WWE have given no clear answers. “It appears WWE Speed is gone,” Meltzer wrote. “They haven’t been taping new episodes and the titles have been forgotten. The deal with X probably expired. Whether it will be renewed or brought back isn’t clear.”
Meltzer added that those he asked “basically [gave] the impression it was so insignificant that nobody has talked about it,” and confirmed that there has been “no official word one way or the other.”
WWE Speed premiered in April 2024 as a weekly series exclusively on X (formerly Twitter), launched under what was described as a two-year agreement. The show featured fast-paced matches with a strict three-minute time limit and crowned both a men’s and women’s champion through tournaments.
Currently, the Speed Champions remain El Grande Americano and Sol Ruca. However, the status of the titles has been left unresolved. Following Chad Gable’s injury, Ludwig Kaiser assumed the El Grande Americano persona, but there’s been no indication from WWE if Kaiser will continue to defend the title.
Meanwhile, Sol Ruca has continued to appear on NXT television, often carrying both the Speed Women’s Title and the NXT Women’s North American Championship, which she currently holds. Despite her visibility, the Speed brand itself has been noticeably absent from any recent broadcasts or storylines.
