John Cena Retirement Match Announced for December 13 on Saturday Night’s Main Event – Peacock and WWE have confirmed a new multi-year agreement that makes Peacock the exclusive streaming home for Saturday Night’s Main Event. The partnership will deliver four primetime WWE specials each year, showcasing championship bouts and top stars. The first event under the deal will stream live on November 1, 2025.
A significant announcement was included in the press release. The December 13, 2025 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event will feature John Cena’s official retirement match, marking the end of his legendary WWE career. Cena, who has headlined WrestleMania multiple times and built a career as one of WWE’s most recognizable figures, will step into the ring one last time exclusively on Peacock.
“Peacock has had a wonderful relationship with the WWE and we’re excited to see it continue far into the future,” said Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports. “Saturday Night’s Main Event is some of the most premium content the WWE produces, including John Cena’s upcoming retirement match, and it will be all live and exclusive on Peacock.”
The deal also confirms the continuation of other WWE programming on Peacock. The WWE Network archive will remain available until the end of 2025. NXT Premium Live Events will stay on the platform through March 2026, while past episodes of SmackDown will continue to be added on a 30-day delay.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque added, “We’re excited to bring Saturday Night’s Main Event exclusively to Peacock beginning this fall. NBCU have been terrific longtime partners, and we look forward to continuing to work with them for years to come.”
The Saturday Night’s Main Event brand holds deep roots in WWE history. It first aired on NBC in 1985, ran until 1991, briefly moved to FOX in 1992, and returned to NBC from 2006 to 2008. The show was revived in September 2024 with a special simulcast on NBC and Peacock. This latest deal now ensures its place as a recurring premium event, highlighted by Cena’s highly anticipated farewell bout.
