MJF Officially Kicked Out of The Hurt Syndicate – After just two months, MJF’s run with The Hurt Syndicate has come to an abrupt and definitive end.
The July 31 episode of AEW Dynamite featured a backstage segment in which MJF attempted to smooth things over following last week’s incident involving the group’s temporary alliance with Cope. MJF knocked on the door of The Hurt Syndicate, but only Shelton Benjamin answered.
Trying to explain himself, MJF apologized and asked to speak with MVP. Shelton coldly replied that MVP wasn’t available—because he was disgusted by MJF. Bobby Lashley wasn’t there either, and it was clear the group had moved on without their most controversial recruit.
Shelton then dropped the hammer. He pulled out the watch MJF had given him as a gift and bluntly stated, “I knew it was fake, just like you.” He revealed that the only reason MJF lasted this long in the faction was because Benjamin vouched for him. But that time was over.
“We’ve always been onto you,” Benjamin told him. “It’s time for you to go. You’re out.”
Just like that, MJF was officially removed from the group, ending a storyline that many fans have now criticized for lacking real payoff. The most common sentiment on social media has been confusion over why the group let MJF join in the first place if the turn was inevitable and so short-lived.
While this direction has left some viewers disappointed, others point out that with MJF—dubbed “The Devil” of AEW—things are never what they seem. As he often says, “Nobody is on the level of the devil.”
Whether this development is part of a larger arc or truly the end of this brief alliance remains to be seen. For now, MJF is on his own again—just the way he likes it.
