Lilian Garcia Off WWE Evolution Due to Health Issues, Alicia Taylor Steps In – Just ahead of Sunday’s WWE Evolution premium live event, longtime WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia announced she would not be part of the show due to ongoing health concerns. Garcia shared the update on social media, revealing that the effects of a respiratory infection she contracted weeks ago have lingered and impacted her voice.
Garcia had returned to WWE for the Saturday Night’s Main Event special, which she did announce on Saturday. However, her voice issues forced her to withdraw from ring announcing duties for Evolution.
“I was so excited to be announcing @wwe Saturday Night’s Main Event and @wwe Evolution this weekend,” Garcia wrote. “But because of lingering effects of a respiratory infection I got some weeks ago, I was only able to announce SNME last night before my voice started wigging out.”
In her absence, Alicia Taylor stepped up to take over ring announcing duties for Evolution, marking another key milestone in Taylor’s WWE career. Garcia praised Taylor in her message, writing, “Grateful to my announce sista @aliciataylorwwe for stepping up to announce Evolution tonight and so excited to celebrate all the women involved, as all the women that have paved the way to this moment!”
Garcia originally returned to WWE in 2024, taking over ring announcing on SmackDown following Samantha Irvin’s departure. She stepped away from regular duties in March but has since made select appearances, including the AAA/WWE Worlds Collide event in June.
WWE Evolution 2025 marks the company’s second all-women’s PLE, with a card full of championship matches, legends, and rising stars. Despite Garcia’s absence, her presence and legacy continue to be felt as the event celebrates the past, present, and future of women’s wrestling.
