WWE Planting Seeds for Sami Zayn’s Heel Turn – Sami Zayn’s character arc on WWE RAW has been building toward a dramatic shift, and the June 3rd episode may have brought him closer than ever to a heel turn. In a chilling backstage segment, Karrion Kross intensified his ongoing psychological assault on Zayn, planting serious doubt about his integrity and intentions.
The segment unfolded following a chaotic tag team bout where Zayn and World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso once again found themselves in the crosshairs of Seth Rollins’ faction. While icing his shoulder after the match, Zayn was approached by Kross, who took the opportunity to continue his mind games.
“I think you’re a liar, that’s my problem with you,” Kross told Zayn. “I think you lied to them [the fans], I think you lie to the people at home. Worst of all, I think you are lying to yourself.”
Kross didn’t stop there. He directly challenged Zayn’s self-image, saying: “You could’ve been a world champion ten times over if you did what you know you really had to do, because I know you’re capable of doing very terrible things to people. Sami, you’re not a good guy, you’re a bad guy, just like the rest of us.”
Zayn quickly shot back, insisting Kross was wrong—but the damage was done. Kross closed the confrontation with a haunting line: “I might be wrong, but I might be right, too.”
This slow-burn story has been brewing since WrestleMania 41, when Zayn stood behind Jey Uso during his celebration—prompting fans to expect a betrayal that never came. WWE clearly planted that moment to tease Zayn’s darker side, and the long-term storytelling has continued ever since.
With Zayn growing increasingly isolated and emotionally unstable, a heel turn now feels inevitable. If WWE decides to capitalize soon, a title match against Jey Uso at SummerSlam seems likely. Alternatively, the company could stretch the storyline to culminate at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, potentially positioning Zayn as a cunning challenger for Jey’s World Heavyweight Championship.
No official match has been announced yet, but all signs point to a turning point for Zayn—and possibly the downfall of Jey’s title reign.
