Kevin Owens Opens Up About Neck Injury Setback

Kevin Owens Opens Up About Neck Injury Setback – Kevin Owens has shared a candid and difficult update on his neck injury, which has kept him off WWE programming since April. Speaking on So What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Cody Rhodes’ official podcast, Owens described the process leading up to his planned neck surgery as “frustrating” and filled with uncertainty.

Owens first confirmed the injury publicly during the April 4 episode of SmackDown, announcing he would miss WrestleMania 41. He now reveals that doctors have opted to allow his spinal cord to heal naturally before determining the extent of the surgery. As of now, Owens is scheduled to undergo the procedure in mid-July.

“It’s been such a frustrating process,” Owens admitted. “We’re letting my spinal cord heal as much as we can on its own before we go in for the surgery, because how extensive the surgery will be depends on how my spinal cord looks when we go in there.”

Ideally, the operation will be a standard neck fusion, but Owens cautioned that nothing is certain until doctors assess the damage more closely during the surgery.

For a while, Owens had reported feeling relatively symptom-free. “My neck’s been fine. I’m not in pain. I have no symptoms of what you would expect somebody with a spinal cord injury have to have,” he said.

However, that quickly changed.

“In the last week, for some reason, the symptoms all came in one shot,” he revealed. “Every symptom you’d expect me to have — the pain in the neck, the stuff going down the arms, the legs not really responding — it’s all been happening. So it’s been pretty f–king brutal. I can’t wait for the surgery.”

There is currently no timeline for Owens’ return to the ring, but the upcoming surgery will provide much-needed clarity.
