John Cena Retains in Chaotic Main Event at Night of Champions – At WWE Night of Champions 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, John Cena successfully retained the Undisputed WWE Championship in a high-stakes, emotionally charged, and chaotic main event against longtime rival CM Punk. The match, a highly anticipated clash between two of WWE’s most iconic figures, featured twists, betrayals, and interference that added layers of drama to an already intense encounter.

The crowd in Saudi Arabia was split down the middle, creating an electric atmosphere from the opening bell. Cena and Punk began with a cautious feeling-out process, trading holds and early offense. Punk attempted the GTS within the first few minutes, but Cena wisely slipped out of the ring to regroup. When action resumed, Punk found his rhythm and began mounting offense. Cena weathered the storm, eventually hitting his signature Five Knuckle Shuffle and attempting an Attitude Adjustment, which Punk narrowly escaped.

Momentum shifted several times, with Punk landing his top-rope elbow drop and locking in the Anaconda Vice after countering Cena’s STF. Cena eventually broke free and landed the Attitude Adjustment, but Punk kicked out to a huge ovation. Not stopping there, Cena connected with a second and then a third AA—only for Punk to kick out each time, building dramatic tension.

At one point, Cena teased using the championship belt as a weapon, but showed restraint and dropped it. Punk seized the opening and finally hit the GTS, but Cena shockingly kicked out again. When the referee was accidentally knocked down during a collision, Punk landed another GTS but had no one to count the fall.

That’s when chaos erupted.

Seth Rollins, flanked by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, stormed the ring with the Money in the Bank briefcase in hand. Punk fought valiantly, even taking down Reed momentarily, but the numbers game quickly overwhelmed him. Breakker and Reed double-teamed Punk, sending him crashing through the announce table.

Rollins summoned referee Charles Robinson to cash in, but Cena intercepted and attacked Robinson before a pin could be attempted. Cena then fought off Rollins, but was again outnumbered. That’s when Penta and Sami Zayn ran down, engaging Breakker in a brawl that spilled to the outside. Punk, still fighting despite the brutal assault, saved Reed from hitting Tsunami, giving Cena the chance to hit yet another Attitude Adjustment—this time on Reed.

With the chaos cleared and the ring emptied, Cena and Punk faced off one last time. Punk offered a handshake, which Cena accepted—but then tried to sucker punch Punk. Punk countered and went for a GTS, but Rollins returned and delivered a Curb Stomp to Punk. Cena tossed Rollins aside, took advantage of the situation, and pinned Punk to retain his title.

Following the match, Cena didn’t stick around to celebrate. He quickly exited up the ramp, knowing more chaos could be imminent. Meanwhile, Rollins was left fuming at ringside, furious that his plan to cash in Money in the Bank had once again failed.

As Night of Champions came to a close, the future of the Undisputed WWE Championship remained uncertain, with Punk reeling, Cena still champion, and Rollins lurking in the shadows with an uncashed briefcase.
