CM Punk Addresses Retirement Rumors – As he prepares for the first WrestleMania main event of his career, CM Punk is making it clear he’s not planning to hang up his boots anytime soon.
Speaking with Metro UK, the 46-year-old WWE Superstar said the current landscape of pro wrestling, including a lighter schedule, has made in-ring longevity more realistic. Punk is set to headline night one of WrestleMania 41 on Saturday, April 19, in a Triple Threat match against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
“No, because you never know what’s going to happen,” Punk said when asked about potential retirement. “If you would ask me when I was 26 if I would be wrestling when I was 46, I would have been like, ‘No way.’ [laughs]”
He added that WWE’s modern schedule, which includes fewer house shows and reduced physical wear, has helped extend his career: “The business has changed so much, the miles that we put on our bodies for years and years and years, and now we’re here, and we’re wrestling maybe once a month, we’re doing one show a week.”
In addition to wrestling, Punk continues to pursue acting. He signed with Paradigm Talent Agency in 2023 and has since landed roles in the Syfy series Revival and the horror film Night Patrol. With WWE’s programming set to begin streaming on Netflix in 2025, Punk sees the partnership as a possible gateway to even more acting opportunities.
“The Netflix thing is interesting, because I think they want to specifically find projects not only for me, but other superstars that they feel can cross over,” Punk said. “I would love to do stuff with Cena. I would love to do stuff with anybody, really. I’m in it to learn. And in that respect, I’m an artist. I want to do stuff that’s fulfilling.”
Punk will look to cap off a career-defining week by capturing championship gold at WrestleMania, a show he’s never headlined despite his legendary status in the industry.
