Seth Rollins Takes Jab at AEW While Discussing Luka Doncic Trade – On February 2, 2025, the Dallas Mavericks traded their star player, Luka Dončić, along with Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris, to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return, the Mavericks received Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round draft pick.
The stunning NBA trade continues to spark conversations beyond basketball, even making its way into the world of pro wrestling. Seth “Freakin’” Rollins was recently asked by SiriusXM how a similar trade might look if WWE and AEW ever engaged in such a deal.
“You’ll make some headlines with this one,” Rollins said before offering his take. “I don’t think there is anybody in AEW that’s on that level [laughs in Seth Rollins]. You’re probably looking at it, if you’re looking at a LeBron, that’s like a John Cena level guy. I’d be looking at John Cena for an MJF, maybe. That’d be the deal. Luka would be MJF. That’s the level. That’s how crazy that is.”
Rollins’ comments drew attention not only for the comparison between MJF and Dončić but also for his view that AEW lacks a talent of equivalent stature to WWE’s top stars.
The decision to trade Dončić was met with substantial criticism from Mavericks fans, leading to protests outside the American Airlines Center before the team’s first home game following the trade. Fans expressed their displeasure with signs calling for the firing of general manager Nico Harrison and even displayed messages urging the sale of the team.
On the Lakers’ side, the acquisition of Dončić has generated significant excitement, pairing him with LeBron James and elevating the team’s championship prospects. Fans are optimistic about a deep playoff run with this new star duo.
