Jon Moxley wins AEW Interim World Title – Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to become the new AEW Interim World Champion at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door.
About 10 minutes into the match, the action spilled to the ringside area and Moxley put Tanahashi through a table. Moxley continued to dominate the match for several more minutes until Tanahashi took over with stomps to the head and the slingblade. When Moxley was knocked out to ringside, he got back up and he was bleeding on his forehead.
About 16 minutes into the match, Moxley kicked out after taking the High Fly Flow and then he locked in the bulldog choke. Mox hit the elbows and then locked in another choke at 19 minutes into the match as fans chanted “go ace.” Mox then hit the Death Rider and pinned Tanahashi to win the title.
Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia attacked Moxley and Tanahashi after the match. Eddie Kingston ran out to make the save but he was taken out too. More JAS and Blackpool Combat Club members ran out and it was a full on brawl between the participants in the upcoming Blood and Guts match. Claudio Castagnoli ran out and took out Jericho and all of the heels left int he ring.
Moxley has held the AEW World Title before. Moxley’s first run was from February 29, 2020, to December 2, 2020.
