It was announced on tonight’s AEW Dynamite that Kenny Omega will defend the Impact World Championship against Christian Cage on Friday’s AEW Rampage (10 pm ET on TNT) debut in Pittsburgh.
Following a six-man tag team match that saw the Elite take down Dante Martin, Matt Sydal, & Mike Sydal, Christian Cage made his way down to the ring, interrupting Don Callis and Omega in their celebration.
After going back and forth on the microphone for a bit, Cage revealed that he had spoken to Tony Khan and IMPACT Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore, and that he had also gotten himself a match for the IMPACT World Championship, which he’ll be battling Kenny Omega for at Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage, leaving Callis and Omega stunned and at a loss for words.
Cage and Omega will also meet at AEW All Out on September 5 for the AEW World Championship.
AEW TNT Champion Miro is also set to face Fuego del Sol on Rampage, if Sol wins, he’ll receive an AEW contract. As noted, AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker will defend her title against Red Velvet on Friday’s event.
