Former Divas Champion Paige returned to WWE NXT as a surprise challenger for NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan on the November 4 episode, marking her first match on the brand in over a decade.
Addressing the unexpected appearance on Busted Open Radio, the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion revealed that her inclusion on the broadcast was arranged on short notice following a direct request from Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
Late-Minute Invitation At Brooklyn Taping
According to Paige, the conversation that set her return in motion occurred backstage during a recent double television taping in Brooklyn:
“I got called last minute. It wasn’t actually supposed to be me. Triple H pulled me aside in Brooklyn at the double taping and said, ‘Do you mind going down to NXT?’ I was like, ‘Oh shit. Yeah, definitely.’”
Because the decision was made on such short notice, she had minimal time to physically condition herself for a high-stakes championship encounter.
Title Match Result And Looking Ahead
Despite the lack of preparation time, Paige pushed Jordan to her limits in the main event spot before the reigning champion countered a Rampaige attempt into a pinfall to retain her title.
Reflecting on the outcome, the veteran superstar expressed confidence about any potential future outings:
“It didn’t give me much time to prepare. Maybe if I prepared a little bit more, I would’ve won. It is what it is. I know what to do next time if I get a little bit of time.”
