WWE legend John Cena revealed Zilla Fatu as the second official entrant for the inaugural John Cena Classic during a surprise appearance on the November 4 episode of WWE NXT.
Appearing before the live crowd at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, the 17-time world champion transitioned from praising the developmental brand to dropping a major update regarding the December 14 tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Emotional In-Ring Exchange Honors The Anoa’i Family Legacy
Following Cody Rhodes being named the tournament’s first participant on Monday Night Raw, Cena summoned Zilla Fatu down to the ring to extend the next invitation.
Addressing the rising star directly, Cena spoke candidly about his profound history with the Anoa’i family, highlighting his bonds with Rikishi, The Rock, Roman Reigns, and specifically praising Fatu’s late father, Umaga:
“I absolutely loved your dad,” Cena told Fatu. “Your family has done so much for me throughout my career, and it is an absolute honor to invite you to compete in the John Cena Classic.”
The touching tribute visibly moved Fatu, who fought back tears in the center of the ring. Fatu accepted the invitation, expressed deep gratitude for Cena’s mentorship and history with his family, and promised the audience that everyone would be shouting his father’s signature catchphrase when December 14 arrives. The emotional segment concluded with an embrace between the two.
