Anthony Bowens has fueled internet speculation about a potential move to New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The former AEW World Tag Team Champion posted a photo of himself standing outside the NJPW LA Dojo on Friday, leaving fans wondering about his next career destination.
The Timing Of The NJPW Dojo Appearance
The timing of the social media post aligns with a scheduled event at the facility. AEW star Kevin Knight was locked in to conduct training seminars at the venue on that exact same day. While the photo has generated significant buzz across the wrestling community, there is currently no official confirmation that Bowens is in active contract talks with New Japan management.
Questions about his future have intensified due to his current contract situation. Bowens’ deal with Tony Khan’s promotion is believed to have expired on October 1. His last televised match for the company took place on the AEW All In London Buy-In pre-show, where his team, The Opps, lost an eight-man tag team encounter against Lio Rush and The Rascalz.
Hints About His Future Plans
During an October 12 media interview, the tag team specialist dropped a hint regarding his upcoming career decisions. Bowens acknowledged that while the wrestling landscape is unpredictable, he already has a specific path in mind.
“I know deep down what I want to do and we’ll see if it works out,” Bowens stated on 10/12.
The veteran performer achieved major success throughout his multi-year run on national television. Alongside Max Caster as a core member of The Acclaimed, he climbed to the top of the tag team division, and later secured trios gold alongside Billy Gunn.
