Roman Reigns Leukemia Update: CML Status & Peptides

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns has offered a detailed and candid update regarding his ongoing battle with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), revealing that while his condition is currently under control, he has not yet achieved complete molecular remission.

Managing Leukemia On A Daily Basis

Speaking in an interview with Men’s Health, the “Original Tribal Chief” provided rare clarity on his current health status. Reigns disclosed that small traces of CML remain in his system, keeping him just short of total molecular remission and requiring strict caution regarding his daily routine and medical care:

“Well, with my medical history, I have to be very careful. I’m, you know—yeah, you know, I’m still to this day, down to the wire, fighting CML. So I have to be very, very careful when it comes to different things like that. So I try—anything invasive, any type of, you know, anything like that, I just can’t take a chance on it.”

Reigns further clarified the exact parameters of his current diagnosis, noting that while his levels remain below the baseline, small percentages prevent him from being completely cleared:

“That’s right. Yeah. And it’s—we’re under control and we’re under the actual baseline, but to be in molecular remission, it has to be almost zeroed out, and there’s just still those minute traces, like 0.31, you know what I mean? But they count. So I still just have to be very careful and very smart, you know what I mean?”

Why Reigns Strictly Avoids Experimental Treatments Like Peptides

When asked whether popular athletic recovery treatments like peptides—specifically BPC-157—have played a role in his regimen, Reigns explained why his medical team keeps him away from unverified substances. Despite hearing positive feedback from other athletes, he refuses to experiment without explicit clearance from his physicians:

“I’ve heard all kinds of cool stuff about that, but I just—I haven’t been able to break into that or sample. Maybe one day it’ll be a question for my doctor, but it’s just something that—yeah—I’ve been able to just outwork everything at this point. So if I can keep doing that, then I’ll stay that route for now… So, yeah, I have not—I would say, for me, and this is someone who doesn’t have enough knowledge on it, peptides: overrated.”

Despite continuing to manage CML behind the scenes, Reigns remains focused on maintaining his elite conditioning and performing at the top of WWE while prioritizing his long-term health.
