Shiloh Hill delivered an unexpected and unfortunate update during the August 4 episode of WWE NXT, confirming that he will be out of action for the foreseeable future. The rising NXT talent initially believed he had escaped his recent match without serious damage, but medical evaluations revealed a far more complicated situation.
Hill addressed fans in a pre‑recorded message, explaining the injury he suffered during his July 28 bout against Tristan Angels. He admitted that adrenaline masked the severity of the issue until later that night, when a simple attempt to blow his nose caused his face to swell with air. That moment prompted immediate medical attention and further testing.
Shiloh Hill Confirms Fractured Maxilla Injury Will Keep Him Out of the Ring
In a video posted on X, Hill shared the details of his diagnosis and the unusual nature of the injury.
“Man, adrenaline is one hell of a drug. I say that because after I beat Tristan Angels last week, pretty much felt like everything was all right. Then I tried to like blow my nose and my whole face just filled with air.”
Doctors later confirmed that Hill had fractured his maxilla, the upper jawbone that forms part of the skull. The break is considered rare, and the recovery process is more complex than typical facial injuries.
“Turns out during the match, I fractured part of my skull called the maxilla, which is definitely like a rare type of fracture. But unfortunately with this one, it might be a little while till you guys see my face back in the ring.”
Despite the setback, Hill maintained his trademark personality throughout the update. He joked about being bored due to not being medically cleared to train and admitted he had been passing the time by diving into obscure wrestling history. From Pat Patterson’s Intercontinental Championship tournament to the origins of the poison mist, Hill turned his injury announcement into an impromptu trivia session.
The timing of the injury is especially unfortunate, as Hill had been building momentum following his victory over Angels. WWE has not announced a timetable for his return, and Hill indicated that surgery and recovery will keep him away from in‑ring competition for an extended period.
For now, Hill’s focus shifts from competing to healing. Fans are hoping the promising NXT prospect can make a full recovery and resume his climb through the brand once he is cleared to return.
