Robert Stone reacted to Zilla Fatu’s unexpected arrival on the August 11 episode of NXT, admitting that the night didn’t unfold the way he had hoped. The show closed with Fatu jumping the barricade and attacking both Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana, marking his official NXT debut.
Waller and Montana were competing to determine the next challenger for Tony D’Angelo’s NXT Championship at Heatwave. D’Angelo was seated at the commentary desk as Montana appeared close to winning after landing his Spin the Block clothesline. Before he could attempt the pin, Fatu hit the ring and took out both competitors with multiple Samoan Splashes.
After the episode, Stone addressed the interruption on social media. He acknowledged the chaos but praised NXT’s momentum, telling fans to keep watching weekly. “Not exactly how I wanted it all to happen, but I’ll say this… @WWENXT is CANNOT miss television weekly! See ya next Tuesday LIVE!” he wrote.
The match was later ruled a no contest, leaving the NXT Championship picture unresolved heading into Heatwave.
