Chris Jericho has no plans to step away from the spotlight anytime soon. The veteran star made it clear that retirement is not something he is considering, as his passion for creating and entertaining remains strong.
Speaking with Dan Marston, Jericho was asked what continues to push him forward at this stage of his career. He explained that his drive comes from doing meaningful work that connects with people who follow his journey across different platforms.
He said, “Honestly, things like what we’re doing right now—but times it by a million. I still love doing cool things that people who appreciate my work will think is cool.”

Jericho shared that he feels a strong sense of responsibility to those who have supported him over the years. That connection fuels his need to stay active and creative in everything he does.
He said, “I take great responsibility in entertaining people that appreciate Chris Jericho’s work—not just in wrestling, not just in music, but in as many different ways as I can, because to me that’s exciting. Creatively, I need to be stimulated and be motivated.”
He also spoke about his relationship with supporters, noting that he views them as more than just fans.
He said, “So that’s one reason. Two, I’ve got a lot of fans and friends—I call them friends more than fans—but people who appreciate what I do and can’t wait to see what I’m doing next.”
Jericho pointed to his wide range of projects as proof that he is far from slowing down. From the Jericho Cruise to his Talk Is Jericho podcast, acting roles like his appearance on Dexter, and performing with Fozzy, he continues to stay busy. He noted that Fozzy recently performed at Sonic Temple in Columbus in front of a massive crowd.
He said, “So whether it’s the Jericho Cruise or Talk Is Jericho or, you know, if I’m on Dexter or we’re doing Fozzy—we played yesterday at Sonic Temple in Columbus, there was 50,000 people for our show.”
He also described a full-circle moment involving the Way brothers of My Chemical Romance, who were once fans of his and are now major headliners themselves.
He said, “And then afterwards, I found out that the Way brothers from My Chemical Romance are huge Jericho fans. They waited in line to meet me when they were kids, and here they are headlining this massive festival with My Chemical Romance.”
Jericho explained that these experiences keep him inspired. He enjoys both influencing others and being influenced in return.
He said, “And it’s just kind of cool to see how I’m influenced by these guys, but then I’ve influenced those guys, and it all kind of blends in together in a really cool, creative, respectful soup, shall we say? So yeah, I mean, what am I going to do? Retire from doing everything and go take this box and put it over there and grow flowers for the rest of my life?”
While he acknowledged that his in-ring career will not last forever, Jericho emphasized that his work outside wrestling can continue for many years.
He said, “I’ve got no intentions of slowing down. I might not be wrestling forever, nor do I want to be, but you can play music till you’re in your 80s, and you can act, and you can do podcasts, and you can do a lot of cool stuff. That’s what I can plan and continue doing.”
Jericho’s outlook is clear. Even when his time in the ring ends, his career as an entertainer will continue across multiple platforms.
