Kairi Sane could still appear at WWE Backlash despite her recent release, as internal belief within the company suggests her story may not be finished.
According to Bryan Alvarez, there is a strong chance Sane could return this Saturday to wrap up her ongoing storyline.
Kairi Sane Backlash Return Possibility
Alvarez noted that within WWE, there is optimism about a potential appearance.
“Within WWE, it’s felt there is a better than 50% chance that Kairi shows up at Backlash to at least finish off that storyline,” he wrote.
It remains unclear whether such an appearance would be a one-time return or something more.
WWE Backlash will feature a singles match between Iyo Sky and Asuka, continuing a storyline that previously involved Sane.
Before her release, Sane was positioned between the two, with Asuka pressuring her to prove loyalty while tensions grew with SKY. Her removal from the roster left that angle without a clear resolution.
Sane’s release was one of the more unexpected moves during WWE’s post-WrestleMania 42 cuts. Fans reacted strongly, with hashtags like #WeWantKairi gaining traction online.
AJ Styles also commented that he was surprised by her departure, adding to the attention surrounding the situation.
Kairi Sane Addresses Speculation
Following the release, Sane pushed back on speculation that she left WWE to return to Japan.
“What I can say is I know there’s been a lot of speculation, but I truly love this work, my teammates, and my fans. I’ve never walked away, and I’ve given my all in everything I do,” she wrote. “I hope you’re all doing well.”
This marks her second run with WWE after returning in 2023. Prior to that, she spent time in Japan working with promotions such as Stardom and NJPW.
For now, her potential involvement at Backlash remains uncertain, but the possibility of her appearing to conclude the storyline has not been ruled out.
