Ric Flair Blasts WWE Over Roots of Fight Issue, Claims Company Is Hurting His Legacy

Ric Flair has publicly criticized WWE after learning he is no longer allowed to be associated with Roots of Fight, turning the situation into a direct attack on the company.

Flair took to social media on April 7, 2026, where he revealed that WWE blocked his involvement with the brand. He questioned the decision while pointing to his long list of accomplishments under the WWE banner.

“I Woke Up This Morning To Find Out That I’m No Longer Allowed To Be With @rootsoffight Per @WWE. Let Me Think- I’m The Only Wrestler To Ever Be On 30 For 30 & Ranked In The Top 25 Of All Time, An Emmy Nominated Documentary-Courtesy Of The WWE, Which I Should Have Won But I Lost To A Team Not An Individual.”

Flair continued by highlighting his championship record and his past relationship with Vince McMahon, referencing financial matters to reinforce his loyalty to the company over the years.

“21 World Championships, But I Always Played By Your Rules And Kept It At 16. Paid Vince McMahon Back 800k When He Said He Would Forgive It. I Honored It.”

He then addressed his current financial position, making it clear that he remains active and successful outside of WWE. Flair referenced his business ventures and also mentioned Tony Khan, signaling he still has strong connections in the industry.

“Fortunately, I Still Make 1 Million Dollars From The GREAT Ryan Fiterman @FitermanSports. 500k From Ric Flair Drip. And Thank God For @TonyKhan.”

Flair’s message took a more serious tone as he accused WWE of attempting to damage his legacy despite his contributions to the business.

“What More Of My Legacy Do You Want To Destroy WWE? You All Grew Up Loving Me And I Set The Bar. Now You Are Trying To Kill Me And Diminish My Legacy. Thank You, But It Ain’t Happening. Nice Try. LFG!”

The situation has now moved into the public spotlight, with Flair making his frustration clear. What could have remained a private business matter has instead turned into a direct dispute, with one of wrestling’s most recognized names openly challenging WWE’s decision.

At this time, WWE has not publicly responded to Flair’s comments. The development adds another layer to the ongoing relationship between Flair and the company, as questions remain about the reasoning behind the move and whether any resolution will follow.
