Triple H Texts Reveal Concerns Over Vince McMahon’s Role During WWE Merger

Newly surfaced text messages between Triple H and Nick Khan provide insight into internal concerns during WWE’s 2023 merger with Endeavor. The messages show that Paul Levesque was uneasy about the situation and frustrated over Vince McMahon remaining involved after the deal.

The texts were published by Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling as part of ongoing coverage tied to the merger lawsuit. The case alleges that McMahon influenced the deal with Endeavor to maintain his position within the company amid allegations of misconduct, rather than acting in the best interest of shareholders.

On September 11, 2023, one day before the merger was finalized, Levesque shared his concerns with Khan.

“How’s it going so far? Man, I’m wound tight today. D-Day tomorrow, expecting the worst,” he wrote.

Khan’s responses were deleted in the published exchange, leaving only Levesque’s messages visible.

Later that same day, Levesque informed Khan that McMahon wanted to discuss talent releases alongside corporate cuts. After the merger was completed the following morning, Levesque sent another message indicating that McMahon was pushing for a meeting regarding talent policies.

“Morning! VKM looking to set an in person meeting for today at 4pm with you, Bruce and Ed regarding Talent Policies,” he wrote.

By December 2023, Levesque’s concerns had not eased. On December 9, he reacted to news that McMahon planned to attend a WWE RAW taping in Cleveland.

“Was just told by security that VKM is coming to Cleveland TV Monday. What’s that about??????”

The following day, Levesque expressed frustration with how the situation was being handled by TKO leadership, including Ari Emanuel and Mark Shapiro. He suggested that earlier expectations of McMahon stepping away were not being fully enforced.

“The more I think about it the more I’m kinda disappointed in that Ari convo,” Levesque wrote. “Seems like we are in the same place. ‘I’m gonna tell him to stay out of it or else.’ That’s way different than ‘I’m telling him he’s done. It’s over.’ Kicking the can down the road. Between you and I, it feels like they are both backtracking on the ‘he’s out’ narrative. It’s back to the ‘well if he wants to go to the show now and then’ and ‘if he gives notes and wants to have a 30-minute meeting now and then, ok.’”

At one point, Levesque also raised concern about CM Punk potentially being on the same flight as McMahon, though no additional details were included in the released messages.

McMahon ultimately resigned in January 2024 following a lawsuit filed by former employee Janel Grant, which included allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking. Previous reporting from Fightful indicated that both McMahon and Levesque were involved in late changes to WWE RAW on September 11, 2023, just before the merger was completed.

The released messages offer a rare look behind the scenes during a pivotal moment for WWE, highlighting internal tension as the company transitioned into a new corporate structure.
