The title became vacant after Elio LeFleur announced he was unable to continue due to injury. With no champion in place, WWE organized a tournament to determine a replacement, bringing urgency to the Speed division and setting up a high-stakes final.
That final came down to Lexis King and EK Prosper. Under WWE Speed rules, the match had a strict five-minute time limit, forcing both competitors to move quickly and take risks from the opening bell.
The pace remained steady throughout, with neither man able to gain full control as the clock continued to tick down. As time became a factor, the tension increased, especially as the match entered its final minute with no clear winner.

TNA Knockouts Champion Ariana Grace got involved at ringside and slapped Prosper. The distraction led to further interference from members of the Birth Rite faction, briefly pulling Prosper out of the match’s flow.
Prosper managed to fight them off, but the damage was already done.
When he returned to the ring, King capitalized immediately, delivering the Coronation and scoring the pinfall with roughly thirty seconds remaining. The timing emphasized the Speed format, where even a short distraction can decide the outcome.
After the match, Birth Rite entered the ring to celebrate with King, marking a significant moment for the group. With a championship now in the faction, their position in NXT is strengthened moving forward.
The match wrapped up the tournament in decisive fashion while highlighting the unpredictability of the Speed division. With King now champion, attention shifts to how he handles future challengers under the same time-restricted format.
