Triple H Facing Backstage Criticism Over WrestleMania 42 Changes – Paul ‘Triple H’Levesque is reportedly facing internal criticism within WWE as plans for WrestleMania 42 continue to shift.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, some within the company are unhappy with the number of creative changes tied to the event, with concerns that the instability may be affecting early ticket sales.
Meltzer stated that the current advance for WrestleMania 42 is down compared to last year’s show. “Essentially, what the way it was described to me is, and this makes no sense, but this is how I was told is that they’re very disappointed with the advance. It’s down about 18% from last year,” Meltzer said.
The frustration reportedly centers on the perception that plans are being revised too often. Some within WWE feel the process mirrors past eras when direction frequently changed at the last minute, even before a full card was officially announced. “So there’s been a lot of internal criticism of Paul Levesque, as far as, like, not keeping, you know, they keep changing the plans, essentially, like Vince,… they have a plan, and then they change the plan,” Meltzer added.
Despite the concerns, the expectation remains that WrestleMania 42 will ultimately sell out. Still, the slower advance has drawn attention internally as the company builds toward its biggest event of the year.
Meltzer also pointed to factors beyond creative that may be affecting ticket movement. He cited higher ticket prices compared to last year and broader travel trends as potential hurdles, including a reported slowdown in tourism to Las Vegas. “The problems are number one, ticket prices are really high, higher than last year. Number two, a lot of foreigners won’t come to the United States right now… I mean, tourism in Vegas is down,” he explained.
As WrestleMania season continues, WWE is expected to finalize the card in the coming weeks while working to maintain momentum for the Las Vegas event.
