The Vanity Project Win NXT Tag Titles After Tony D’Angelo Interferes

The Vanity Project Win NXT Tag Titles After Tony D’Angelo Interferes – Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes of The Vanity Project captured the NXT Tag Team Championships on the February 24 episode of WWE NXT, defeating DarkState with unexpected assistance from Tony D’Angelo.

The match opened with Ricky Smokes and Osiris. Ricky tried to use speed, but Osiris overpowered him early. Brad Baylor tagged in, yet he also struggled to knock Osiris off his base. DarkState kept control with heavy offense and frequent tags. Saquon entered and helped maintain the advantage with shoulder strikes, a back breaker, and a neck breaker combination for near falls.

The Vanity Project found brief openings with double-team offense. Brad landed a jumping knee, and Ricky followed with a spear for a close two-count. Still, DarkState answered back. Osiris delivered a chokeslam to Brad and stacked both opponents, nearly securing the win.

As the pace increased, interference began to play a role. After a doomsday-style missile drop kick connected, Drake placed Brad’s foot on the ropes to stop the count. Cutler confronted Drake, and security rushed out to restore order as chaos broke out at ringside.

The decisive moment came when Tony D’Angelo appeared. With DarkState in position to finish the match, D’Angelo choke slammed Saquon onto the apron. He then rolled Brad on top of Saquon. The referee counted three, giving The Vanity Project the victory and the NXT Tag Team Titles.

D’Angelo had recently warned that he was targeting DarkState and would not stop until they lost everything, just as he had. His involvement directly cost them the championships.

With the titles now in the hands of The Vanity Project, the tag team division on NXT takes a sudden turn, and DarkState’s issues with Tony D’Angelo appear far from over.
